The Shia Muslims of Costa Mesa, California has issued an statement Condemning Shia pilgrims attacks in Karbala(Iraq) and Karachi(Pakistan)
Condemnation on the Massacre against Shia Pilgrims
It is with great sadness to report that four explosions, two in Karbala and two in Karachi (Pakistan), killed nearly a hundred innocent Shia Muslims who were commemorating the 40th of the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (as) on Friday, February 05, 2010.
For millions of Muslims worldwide, the Arabaeen marks 40 days after the Day of Ashura anniversary. This day commemorates the slaying of Imam Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.
The Arabaeen brings with it the memory of the sacrifice of Imam Husayn, who gave his life for truth and justice. He was the model of a true martyr. He exemplified true Islam by exposing injustice, persecution, and tyranny. In his last days he said, "It is better to die with honor than live with humiliation."
The terrorists who caused the four blasts today are the same type of terrorists that Imam Husayn opposed 1,300 years ago. The terrorists of Imam Husayn's time and today's terrorists oppose truth and justice, and practice only violence, intimidation, and fear.
We urge the Muslim community to stand united against the radical elements and those who wish to sow seeds of conflict and sectarianism within the Muslim community.
It is our hope and prayers that the evil terrorists be captured and given swift justice for the heinous crimes they have committed against the innocent victims.
